Using yoga to help kids calm down
Yoga can be a helpful tool for kids to get back in touch with their bodies when big emotions start to take over. The key is to start using strategies at the earliest warning sign that an outburst is going to happen. Once they've reached the peak of their anger mountain, there's little else you can do as a parent other than to take a supportive stance and wait for the wave to subside. Saying the positive phrases while holding the pose can also help diffuse the situation by encouraging more constructive mindset.
